The Gredos Hunting Reserve is located in Sierra de Gredos, in central Spain, about 1.5 hours from Madrid. This outstanding mountain area offers a very high density of ibex, excellent trophy quality and highly successful hunts.
Surrounded by lakes, gorges, cliffs and high peaks, Sierra de Gredos provides one of the most iconic landscapes for Spanish ibex hunting.
The Sierra de Gredos belongs to the Central System of the Iberian Peninsula and extends between the provinces of Ávila, Cáceres, Madrid and Toledo. Its highest point is Almanzor Peak, reaching 2,592 meters.
Although Gredos Ibex can be hunted in different parts of the range, the Gredos Hunting Reserve is considered the most outstanding area for this species. The reserve covers part of the Central Massif, in the south of Ávila, and is known for its strong ibex population and exceptional trophy quality.
The Gredos Ibex is the largest of the four Spanish ibex species and one of the most sought-after mountain trophies in Spain. Its dark coat and impressive lyre-shaped horns make it a highly valued trophy among international hunters.
In normal hunting conditions, this area offers a very high success rate thanks to its ibex density, experienced guides and careful trophy management.

Your Gredos Ibex hunting trip starts with your arrival at Madrid-Barajas Airport, officially known as Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Upon arrival, the IberHunting team will meet you and assist you throughout the trip.
After completing the required clearance documents for bringing your rifle, you will be transferred to your accommodation close to the hunting area. Dinner will be arranged at the hotel restaurant, allowing you to rest before the first hunting day.
For international hunters who prefer not to travel with a firearm, rifle rental can also be arranged depending on the program and availability.
The Gredos Ibex hunt begins early in the morning after breakfast. This is a true mountain stalking hunt, where the hunter and guides carefully search the terrain using binoculars and spotting scopes to locate a suitable trophy according to the client’s expectations.
Once the right trophy is located, the stalk must be carried out in complete silence, always following the guide’s recommendations. The Gredos Ibex has excellent senses of smell, sight and hearing, making it a challenging and exciting mountain species.

Accommodation for the Gredos Ibex hunt is arranged in small boutique hotels close to the hunting area, with a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings.
These hotels provide a comfortable and authentic base for hunters to enjoy the mountains, local culture and traditional Spanish hospitality.
The hunting experience is complemented by the traditional gastronomy of Castilla y León and Extremadura, including grass-fed beef, roasted lamb, cured Iberian pork, artisanal cheeses and local wines.

To confirm your Gredos Ibex hunt, a deposit of 50% of the total hunt cost is required. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 60 days before the hunting date.
The hunt is based on a strict license system, and IberHunting must arrange the Spanish hunting license and insurance before your arrival.
If a bigger trophy is taken, any extra trophy points will be paid after the hunt, once the hunting protocol has been signed before departure.
Trophy measurement is carried out “en verde” in the field by the rangers of the Gredos Hunting Reserve.
Injured animals that cannot be found are considered taken and must be paid for by the hunter.
In normal weather conditions, Gredos Ibex hunts have a very high success rate. However, if weather conditions prevent a successful hunt or the expected trophy is not found, the hunting license can be kept and the hunter may return during the following two years, paying only the Spanish hunting license and insurance (€350) and the daily rates (€750).
For the management of the Spanish hunting license and insurance, IberHunting will need to receive a copy of the hunter’s hunting license and identity card or passport.
